Girasol quartz is a type of milky or cloudy quartz that gets its name from the Italian phrase "turning to the sun," because of its unique optical effect. It is a translucent stone that appears bluish-white and exhibits a soft, internal glow or shimmer when a light source hits it, especially in direct sunlight. This phenomenon is known as adularescence, a light effect also found in moonstone.
